The number of holiday homes for sale around Lake Balaton has increased. According to ingtalan.com’s calculations, 10-20% more holiday homes are offered for sale next to the “Hungarian Sea” than a year ago. In fact, it seems as if the prices are also going down a little, at least according to the data of the largest real estate search portal.
What happened? According to experts, it is a kind of reorganization. Before the covid epidemic, real estate prices in Balaton started to rise, but then they skyrocketed. Many people bought real estate here for investment purposes, then moved around Lake Balaton during the closures. According to some assumptions, these well-to-do Hungarians would now get rid of their real estate because, due to high inflation and low domestic housing rental yields, they would rather look for a second home in the Mediterranean region.
