Most people don’t go shopping without a list, but they don’t necessarily know what to bring when viewing a property for sale. So here is the list of what you need for a successful walkthrough:
Take your real estate expert
The right real estate expert will help you with an accurate overview of the property’s condition, a realistic assessment of the neighborhood and a market-based assessment of the property’s price.
All decision makers should be there
Unless you are going to live in the property alone, everyone involved in the decision should be there. Partner, child, anyone whose comments and input are essential for an informed and reassuring decision.
Camera or smartphone
It’s hard to remember all the details of a property, especially when you view more than one. The images in the ad usually highlight only the parts that the sellers want to show. It may happen that there are defects that should be photographed to show to an expert.
Tape measure
If there is no detailed floor plan of the property, then a measuring tape would certainly come in handy. Even if you know the floor area of the property and the rooms, you have to measure whether your sofa fits between the heating pipe and the door frame.
Pen and notepad
Sometimes it is easier to quickly write down your ideas, comments, questions, or measurements than to type on the phone.
Openness
Do not forget this at home. Not all details may match your ideas, but a cover, color or wall can be easily modified. Don’t let your dream home depend on it.
